GEORGE TOWN, JULY 18, 2025 –  A significant victory in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking in Penang was announced today by the Acting Penang Police Chief, DCP Dato’ Mohd Alwi bin Zainal Abidin.  At a press conference held at the Media Centre of the Penang Contingent Police Headquarters, DCP Dato’ Alwi revealed the successful seizure of a substantial quantity of Methyleendioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA), estimated to be worth RM2.2 million.

 

The operation, conducted by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) of the Penang Contingent Police Headquarters, highlights the department\'s unwavering commitment to disrupting drug trafficking networks within the state.  DCP Dato’ Alwi commended the JSJN team for their efficiency and meticulous execution of the operation, emphasizing the seizure as a testament to the Royal Malaysian Police’s (PDRM) broader strategy in combating organized crime.

 

Further details regarding the operation were provided by ACP R. Azizan bin Ibrahim, Head of JSJN Penang.  ACP Azizan\'s briefing included information on the investigative methods employed to identify and subsequently raid the drug storage facility, as well as details concerning the suspects apprehended and the legal proceedings that will follow.
