Malaysian Lady Biker  Khetherine Steven Sets World Record at Umling La Pass

LONDON –11Feb2026 Khetherine Steven, a 27-year-old rider from Skudai, Johor, has made history as the first woman to successfully reach Umling La Pass on a motorcycle. Standing at an altitude of 19,024 feet (5,883 metres), the pass is recognized as one of the highest motorable roads in the world.


The record-breaking expedition took place between 27 September and 2 October 2025. Over the course of six days, Ms. Khetherine Steven navigated the treacherous Himalayan terrain, facing extreme altitudes and a harsh, unpredictable climate. The journey required exceptional physical endurance and technical skill to overcome the oxygen-depleted environment and challenging road conditions.


Following the completion of her journey, Ms.Khetherine Steven’s feat was officially verified on 9 December 2025. Her achievement has been formally recognised by three prestigious organisations:

 

- International Achiever Book of World Records

- Cholan Book of World Records

- Kalam’s World Records

 - Malaysia Book Of Records

Born on 23 July 1998, the Malaysian rider has earned international praise for her courage and determination. Her achievement is now officially registered in both the United Kingdom and India, marking a significant milestone for women in extreme motorsports.

Ms.Khetherine success serves as an inspiration to riders globally, demonstrating that perseverance can overcome even the most difficult geographic barriers.


Meanwhile, it is noteworthy that Datuk Seri Nadarajan, a senior figure in Malaysia’s superbike motorcycle racing scene and a world record holder who has also been recognized in the Malaysia Book of Records, played a key role through his selfless efforts in supporting Ms.Khetherine  historic ride to Umling La Pass and her recognition for the achievement.
