Kota Kinabalu, 5 December – Sabah is grieving the loss of Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, the MP for Kinabatangan, who has died at the age of 66. 

He passed away at 1:46 AM on Friday (4 December) in a private hospital here. 

His son, Naim Kurniawan Moktar, confirmed the news to media this morning but did not share details about the cause of his father\'s death. 

\"We ask everyone to pray for his soul to be blessed and placed among the faithful. Al-Fatihah,\" he stated. 

Bung Moktar has been hospitalised since after the 17th Sabah election. 

The Governor of Sabah, Tun Musa Aman, was among those who visited him during his illness. 

In the recent State election, Bung Moktar successfully kept his seat in the Lamag State Assembly, winning with a majority of 153 votes in a six corner fight. 

He first became the MP for Kinabatangan in the 10th General Election in November 1999 and had served as the area’s representative for six terms. 

Born on 15 September 1959 in Sukau, Kinabatangan, the late Bung Moktar leaves behind his wives, Datin Seri Nor Asidah Alimuddin and Datin Seri Zizie Izette Abdul Samad, along with seven children.
