Lions Club of Seberang Jaya Marks 40th Anniversary with Major Educational and Healthcare Contributions

SEBERANG JAYA, 26 April 26 - The Lions Club of Seberang Jaya celebrated a significant milestone today, marking its 40th anniversary with a high-profile commemorative event and the announcement of several major community welfare initiatives.


Established in 1985, the club has dedicated four decades to social service, a legacy that was honored today by members and distinguished guests.

Presiding over the celebrations, Dato’ Rajendran, President of the Lions Club of Seberang Jaya, highlighted the club’s enduring commitment to the community. To mark the occasion, the club prioritized two critical sectors: education and healthcare.



Empowering High-Achieving Students -In a move to support the academic aspirations of the B40 community, the club presented laptops to three outstanding Indian students who excelled in their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations.

The recipients, who achieved impressive results of 10 A’s, 9 A’s, and 8 A’s respectively, all hail from single-parent households.



"By providing these essential digital tools, we aim to ensure that these brilliant students from fatherless homes have the necessary resources to continue their education," Dato’ Rajendran stated. "Supporting the education system for our B40 students remains a primary objective of our club."

Advancing Vision Care via Mobile Surgery - Furthering its humanitarian reach, the Lions Club of Seberang Jaya contributed RM5,000 toward the Vision Care Mobile Clinic project. This ambitious RM1.8 million initiative, spearheaded by the Lions Club of Alor Setar Host, involves a specialized mobile bus equipped to perform free cataract surgeries across Malaysia.

The mobile unit is designed to bring life-changing eye treatments directly to underprivileged patients in remote areas at no cost.

Dato’ Rajendran expressed his profound gratitude to the donors and members who made these contributions possible.

He specifically acknowledged the generosity of Tan Sri Ramesh of The Light Hotel, Dato’ Ganesh, Dato’ Vimal, Dato’ Dinagaran, Dato’ Gunasegaran, Dato’ Sokalingam, and Lion Mahindran, among others.

Reflecting on the club’s identity, Dato’ Rajendran noted with pride that the organization, which he also referred to as Lifestyle Seberang Jaya, comprises a membership that is 99.9% Indian. He credited this demographic solidarity for the club’s ability to "help our own people" effectively.
