Modi’s Bold Claim: Massive BJP Victory Imminent in West Bengal Elections”

By Ilamparithi

KOLKATA, April 19, 2026 - Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed strong confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) prospects in the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, asserting that the party would secure a “huge majority” in the state.

His remarks come just days ahead of the first phase of polling scheduled for April 23. Addressing party workers and supporters during the campaign, Modi emphasized that he does not usually discuss electoral outcomes publicly.

However, he made an exception this time, underlining his belief that the BJP is poised for a decisive victory in West Bengal.

“I never talk about the outcome… but this time the BJP is going to form the government with a huge majority,” Modi said, adding that his statement was backed by “full confidence.”

His remarks reflect the party’s aggressive push to unseat the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC).

The Prime Minister’s assertion aligns with his recent comments suggesting that the “mood is favouring the BJP” in the state, based on feedback from grassroots party workers.

Observers note that such messaging is aimed at energizing cadres and consolidating voter sentiment ahead of polling.

The West Bengal Assembly elections, scheduled in two phases on April 23 and April 29, are being closely watched as a high-stakes political contest.

The BJP is seeking to expand its footprint in a state long dominated by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her TMC.

During his campaign speeches, Modi has also launched sharp attacks on the TMC, accusing it of fostering “violence, fear and intimidation” in the state.

He has framed the election as a turning point for West Bengal, urging voters to support change and development.

The political atmosphere in the state remains intense, with opposition leaders rallying behind the TMC and criticizing the BJP’s approach.

Regional leaders have described the election as a battle to protect Bengal’s identity, highlighting the deeply polarized nature of the campaign.

As campaigning enters its final phase, Modi’s confident prediction of a “huge majority” has added a new dimension to the electoral narrative.

Whether this confidence translates into votes will become clear when results are declared on May 4, following the completion of polling across the state.  Alaiolinews
