Datuk Seri Dr. M. Saravanan Inaugurates Kaviyarasu Kannadasan Centenary Celebrations in Penang

PENANG –6th April 26 Datuk Seri Dr. M. Saravanan, Member of Parliament for Tapah and National Deputy President of the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC), officiated the introductory ceremony of the Kaviyarasu Kannadasan Centenary celebrations at the Arulmigu Thandayuthapani Temple today.

 

The event marked a significant cultural milestone, highlighted by the unveiling of a stone inscription featuring an exclusive poem composed by the legendary late poet specifically for the temple. Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Saravanan expressed profound honor at being chosen to lead the inauguration, describing the opportunity to unveil the historic inscription as a moment of \"immense joy\" and a rare blessing.

 

During his keynote address, Dr. Saravanan paid a glowing tribute to the legacy of Kaviyarasu Kannadasan, whose influence spans across classical Tamil literature and the golden era of film lyrics. He noted that Kannadasan possessed a peerless ability to articulate the most complex human emotions through simple, resonant language.
