31 May 2026, ULU TIRAM – The grand official opening of Dewan Kuil Sri Maha Muniswarar at Taman Desa Cemerlang, Ulu Tiram, was held today, marking a significant milestone for the Hindu community and residents in the district. The ceremony was graced and officially officiated by the Honorable Dato’ Onn Hafiz bin Ghazi, Menteri Besar of Johor.

 

The auspicious event commenced with  In his inaugural address, YAB Dato’ Onn Hafiz bin Ghazi congratulated the temple committee, donors, volunteers, and the entire community for their collective dedication, perseverance, and contributions towards the successful completion of this infrastructure project. He emphasised that the construction of Dewan Kuil Sri Maha Muniswarar stands as a testament to the strong spirit of unity, cooperation, and religious harmony that prevails in Johor.

 

“This new temple hall is not merely a physical structure; it is a centre for worship, a hub for cultural preservation, and a gathering space that strengthens the bond amongst the people. It reflects the inclusive and progressive nature of our state, where every community is valued, and every faith is respected and nurtured,” stated the Menteri Besar during his speech.

 

YAB Dato’ Onn Hafiz further affirmed the State Government’s continuous commitment to supporting places of worship and community facilities across Johor, ensuring that all citizens, regardless of race or belief, have access to proper infrastructure to practise their faith and carry out cultural activities with dignity and peace.

 

The Sri Maha Muniswarar Temple Hall is designed to serve as a multi-purpose facility, accommodating religious ceremonies, cultural programmes, educational activities, and community gatherings. It is expected to play a vital role in preserving Hindu traditions, promoting moral values, and fostering closer ties within the local neighbourhood.

 

Present at the ceremony were YB Raven Kumar Krishnasamy (Johor State Unity, Heritage and Culture EXCO and Tenggaroh Assemblyman), Tiram State Assemblyman (ADUN), YB Tuan Haji Azizul bin Bachok, 

Johor representatives from various government departments, local councillors, religious figures, members of the temple management committee, as well as hundreds of devotees and well-wishers.

 

 The completion and opening of Dewan Kuil Sri Maha Muniswarar at Desa Cemerlang will undoubtedly serve as a lasting legacy, benefitting present and future generations, while further enriching the social and religious landscape of Ulu Tiram and the wider Johor region.
